John Cabore Born 6 May 1914 Larksville, PA Passed away New York City 1980
During World War II John was in the Air Force working as a writer, artist for AP, UP Ins and Intelligence.
He was a prominent fashion artist and commercial illustrator in New York City during the 1940s - 60s. His clients would include most of the city's high-end department stores: Saks, Goodmans, Bonwit Teller, etc. He also illustrated products for magazines and anatomy for textbooks.
He was one of the founders of the School of Visual Arts and taught there for years. I have been in contact with some of his former students, who are now teaching or department heads.
During his final years, he was aware of his approaching death. John sent me the remainder of his work, documents, newspaper articles and entire portfolio. There are approximated 60 paintings
and drawings. I modeled for him during the years 1967 - 1974. He had no surviving family members and he wanted me to take care of his collection.
